Big Ideas Revealed to City Council for Downtown Palm Springs Park

Some of the essential ingredients officials have said the park should contain include, permanent public restrooms, shade structures, sites to locate a piece of large public art such as the Aluminaire House, an Albert Frey designed demonstration project from the early 1930s. The Aluminaire House arrived in Palm Springs in mid-February and remains stored in a shipping container. “We believe that the downtown park should be iconic, and should be a visited destination for the city in the same way our architecture is,” said David Vogel, who chairs the city’s Measure J Committee, which advises the council on how Measure J funds should be spent.
